Closer to Home
Throughout the pandemic lockdown we spent almost all our time within a few kilometers of our home in South Holmwood in Surrey. We went out every day usually on foot or by bike. We only ventured further, a few extra kilometers, as volunteers helping people who were isolating with food, medicines and other needs.
These photos are not a pre-conceived project. They are simply images taken as we walked around the local commons which caught our eye. We are lucky to live in beautiful place where nature was enhanced by the lovely spring weather. It was further enhanced by the absence of aeroplanes overhead (Gatwick was shut) and traffic noise from the local major roads.
The quiet, the time, the boredom and anxiety made us appreciate the outdoors all the more. There is comfort in a view over the weald, the budding leaves, bluebell woods and wild flowers in the meadows. We hope this short film enables you to share and enjoy that solace.
